Card Grading Guide
How I assess and describe card condition.
I don’t use third-party grading services (PSA, BGS etc.) for most cards. Instead I use a straightforward condition scale and describe anything worth noting in the listing. If you’re unsure about a specific card, just ask.
Mint
Pack fresh. Pulled directly from a pack and immediately sleeved. No visible flaws under normal viewing. Corners sharp, surface clean, no print defects.
Near Mint
Essentially perfect. May have one minor flaw only visible under close inspection: a tiny edge nick, slight corner wear, or a minor print line. Looks great in hand.
Excellent
Light handling wear. May show minor corner softening or light surface marks visible at an angle. Still a clean, presentable card. Any notable issues will be mentioned in the listing.
Very Good
Visible wear on corners or edges. Surface may have light creasing or scuffing. Visually fine at arm’s length but clearly handled. Priced accordingly.
Good / Played
Heavy wear: rounded corners, surface creasing, or significant marks. Listed at low prices for collectors who want the card for a binder rather than condition.
A Note on Condition
Most cards I list are Mint or Near Mint. They come straight from packs I’ve opened myself and go into sleeves immediately. If a card is anything less, I’ll say so clearly in the listing.
